Torigoe Shrine

took a trip out to asakusa-bashi to hit up the Torigoe Shrine Festival where i was promised "Sengan-Mikoshi (portable shrine), weighing about 4 tons and carried by 150 to 200 people, are continually paraded in the neighborhood of the shrine from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m." They say the heaviest mikoshi in Tokyo would be there, however, i was later told by a local shopkeeper that the BIG BIG one doesn't make an appearance til the evening so i missed that one (tired! had to hoof it home). but i got quite a few good pix throughout the day:

the band:

the mikoshi, the carriers, and the followers:

no, i'm not obsessed with half naked dudes but there were A LOT of them. actually, i shot these for the H as she used to love these pix when she was in TKY.

at the actual shrine, the lion heads were on display:

this dude was out of control. mom, meet my new boyfriend :

rowr! i changed my mind! this guy was a cutie:

more mikoshi action:

ASSES. plus it looks like a cone kancho in the making:

didn't see the huge mikoshi but i found this super little one. the kids carry these:

more bare ass:

found the bandai headquarters:

and proceeded to take a bunch of assinine photos:
